• Enhanced Simplified Equipment Registration (ESER)
• Simplified Equipment Registration (SER)
• General Equipment Registration (GER)
• General Equipment Registration by Certification Bodies (GER-CB)
• Confirmation of Conformity (COFC), a voluntary route for equipment exempted from registration.

GER covers equipment that requires IMDA assessment, including specified base stations, land-mobile radios and short-range devices requiring approval. Suppliers may also choose GER for equipment eligible for SER or ESER.

The route is selected using the product interfaces and applicable IMDA technical specifications, rather than a general assumption that every router, tablet or modem requires GER.

Enhanced Simplified Equipment Registration (ESER)

ESER provides a self-declaration route for eligible equipment, including specified short-range and low-power products. Wireless LAN and Bluetooth devices can qualify when they meet the relevant requirements.

Simplified Equipment Registration (SER)

SER applies to eligible mobile terminals and broadband access equipment. Product functionality and the applicable technical specifications determine eligibility.

Equipment with several radio or network interfaces must meet the registration requirements applicable to all of those interfaces.

Suppliers receive a registration confirmation and number. Registration can be renewed in accordance with the applicable scheme.

Equipment applicants must hold an appropriate IMDA Telecommunication Dealer’s Licence.

Dealer’s Class Licence

This covers dealing in registered equipment and equipment exempted from registration, subject to the licence conditions.

Dealer’s Individual Licence

This is relevant when a dealer handles equipment outside the Class Licence scope. Restrictions govern the sale of unregistered equipment, including sales for re-export.

A dealer licence concerns trading in equipment. Telecommunications service-provider licensing is a separate matter.

An equipment supplier or dealer with a valid IMDA Telecommunication Dealer’s Licence can submit the relevant application. The applicant is responsible for the declaration of conformity and supporting technical records.
